There are two kinds of vibe coding tool. Cursor and Claude Code change code in your own project, and Lovable, Bolt, Replit Agent and v0 build and host an app from a chat. We read each vendor's own page on October 15, 2026, we have not tested any of the six, and we do not rank them because our data ranks models, not products.

What is vibe coding?

Cursor

Vendor says
Cursor is your coding agent for building ambitious software.
Where it runs
Desktop app (the page offers a macOS download), with a CLI, Slack and GitHub integrations and cloud agents.
What it makes
Changes to code in your own project.
Models
Listed in the model selector on the home page, next to an Auto option. The page text runs "Fable 5.1" and "Max" together, so we could not tell a name from a label and quote it as it reads. Karpathy's February 2025 post used Cursor Composer with Sonnet.

Claude Code

Vendor says
An agentic coding tool. Its page says you can hand it "a bug fix, test, or multi-day migration".
Where it runs
Terminal on macOS, Linux and Windows, VS Code and JetBrains, the web at claude.ai/code, iOS and Android, the Claude desktop app, Slack and GitHub.
What it makes
Changes to code in your own project.
Models
The page does not list its models. Opus 5.5 appears in a fast-mode FAQ and in the interface screenshot.

Platforms that build and host an app

You describe the app in a chat and the platform builds it and, per its own page, can publish it.

Lovable

Vendor says
A "full-stack AI development platform for building, iterating on, and deploying web applications".
Where it runs
In the browser. You publish an app to a live URL, or sync the code to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket.
What it makes
Web apps with a frontend, backend, database, authentication and integrations, backed by editable code.
Models
The documentation page names no models.

Bolt

Vendor says
"AI builder: Websites, apps & prototypes". Create apps and websites "by chatting with AI".
Where it runs
Hosted. Bolt Cloud includes hosting with analytics and custom domains, plus databases, user management and authentication.
What it makes
Websites, apps, prototypes and slides.
Models
Bolt Agent "automatically routes to the right model for each task". The page does not name the models.

Replit Agent

Vendor says
"Tell Replit Agent your app or website idea, and it builds it through chat." The page adds "no coding experience required".
Where it runs
In Replit. The page says you can "launch a production-ready app from one workspace".
What it makes
Apps and websites, plus landing pages, dashboards, prototypes, chatbots and automated workflows.
Models
The page names no models. It mentions optional "Extended Thinking and High-Power models".

v0

Vendor says
"v0 is an AI agent that helps anyone create real code and full-stack apps and agents."
Where it runs
Hosted. One-click deployment is "powered by Vercel".
What it makes
Code and full-stack apps. The page mentions React components, Next.js, Tailwind and shadcn/ui.
Models
The page names no models.

Vibe coding platform or vibe coding tool

The two words overlap. Here, platform means a product that also hosts what it builds, which per their own pages covers Lovable, Bolt and v0. A tool edits code and leaves hosting to you.

The model matters more than the wrapper

Vibe coding tool questions

What are the best vibe coding tools?
We do not rank them. Our data ranks models, not products, and we have not tested these six. What we can say, from each vendor's own page on October 15, 2026, is what each builds, where it runs and which models it names.
What is a vibe coding platform?
In this guide, a product that builds an app from a chat and also hosts it. By their own pages that covers Lovable, which publishes to a live URL, Bolt, whose Bolt Cloud includes hosting, and v0, whose deployment is powered by Vercel.
Do I need to know how to code to use them?
Replit says its Agent needs "no coding experience". Karpathy, who named vibe coding, called the approach "not too bad for throwaway weekend projects". Neither claim covers software you must maintain or secure.
Which model do vibe coding tools use?
It varies, and most pages do not say. Cursor lists several in its selector, and Claude Code's page mentions Opus 5.5. Lovable, Bolt, Replit Agent and v0 name none on the pages we read on October 15, 2026.
